We are looking for a strategic, collaborative and results-oriented Director, Community Services to provide leadership to the Community Services Department. The Community Services Department includes a range of services including Building Permits/Inspections, Engineering Development Services, Bylaw services, Business Licensing/Economic Development, Filming Permits and other related matters. The Department has a staff of approximately 50 with a strong reputation for being progressive and efficient with excellent customer service.  As Director, you will provide direction for the department to maintain and enhance these attributes. You will help your department work together and in an integrated and cooperative manner with other departments and agencies to achieve City goals.  As a key member of the senior management team, you will contribute to the strategic direction and overall management of the City. You will also respond to external challenges by seeking opportunities and developing strong and positive relationships with external stakeholders.
 
The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in a related field and more than 10 years of progressive related management and administrative experience within a municipal setting. Comparable combinations of education and experience will also be considered. Thorough knowledge of the development approval process, applicable legislation, regulations and bylaw enforcement is required.  Experience dealing with the public is also required.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with others to optimize outcomes and have excellent negotiation and communication skills. A valid class 5 driver’s license is also required.
